Commonwealth Games 2022 Birmingham

The Commonwealth Games 2022 kicked off on a Thursday night with a loud and unabashed celebration of all things Birmingham.

Birmingham was dreaming about an opportunity like this for over four decades.

The eagerly anticipated Commonwealth Games 2022 will begin in Birmingham.

The official opening ceremony begins at 7pm on Thursday July 28, at Alexander Stadium.

The event will also include the return of the Queen's Baton Relay as well as music by Tony Lommi of Black Sabbath and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

The first day of action on the 29th of July, on a Friday and continues for the next 11 days.

more than 5,000 athletes representing 72 countries are expected take part in 280 competitions.

This year, there are a few new sports that are taking place such as women's T20 cricket, basketball 3x3, and 3-wheelchair basketball.
